A Pioneering and transformational initiative in the Indian entrepreneurship and impact ecosystem

The Anjani Mashelkar Foundation is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the Keki H. Gharda Innovation Foundation (KHGIF). KHGIF is a transformative initiative dedicated to nurturing and sustaining ground-breaking innovations with profound social impact. It is led by Dr. Keki Gharda, the visionary founder of Gharda Chemicals, an innovation-driven pioneer in India’s chemical industry. The AMF-KHGIF partnership unites two powerhouses with aligned visions and complementary strengths for greater impact. This partnership signifies a powerful alliance in the pursuit of transformative innovation through:

  1. Funding: Supporting the advancement of innovations with compassionate equity and patient capital.
  2. Expertise: Leveraging the combined expertise of both foundations to benefit innovators and communities in need.
  3. Networks: Expanding reach by combining resources and networks to serve underserved communities on the ground.

KHGIF was launched on 25th September 2024, with the mission of ‘Passion for Science and Compassion for Mankind.’ The launch marks the first step in the AMF-KHGIF partnership’s journey toward a more equitable and innovative future for India and beyond.

Awards

The Anjani Mashelkar prize is named after Dr. Mashelkar’s late mother, who raised him facing many hardships as a poor, uneducated widow. In spite of her own circumstances, she always wished to do something to improve the quality of life of resource-poor and excluded people.

This award presents an opportunity to spur and fuel innovation for the benefit of the excluded sections of society in order to ‘include’ them in the mainstream. Most importantly, it will value solutions that represent ‘affordable excellence‘, breaking the myth that ‘affordability’ and ‘excellence’ cannot go together.

Anjani Mashelkar Inspiration Award

The Anjani Mashelkar Inspiration Award is an annual award of ₹100,000 honouring the inspiring life and work of an elderly and unsung Indian hero. The award is given under the aegis of International Longevity Centre – India (ILC-I) in partnership with Anjani Mashelkar Foundation.

A young widowed mother suffering through extreme poverty coupled with the lack of education meant unsurmountable odds for late Smt. Anjani Mashelkar. Undeterred by these odds, she brought up Raghunath Mashelkar with determination and perseverance. She continued to raise his aspirations for higher education and achievement, while giving him values of morality, ethics and concern for the poor at the same time. She was truly an inspiration!
